Advocacy
AZRSOL is the only Arizona non-profit providing support and advocacy for those living on the sexual offense registry, and we see the collateral consequences of Arizona’s fear-based policies every day. That’s why we strive to empower our members to live their best lives while working toward changing policies and creating safer communities.
While we are not lobbyists, we often meet with policy makers, elected officials, probation officers, therapists and other stakeholders to provide information and insight into the issues involving those who have committed sexual offenses. All of our volunteers are either directly-impacted or have loved ones who are.
We keep our community members informed about changing laws in Arizona and across the U.S. and we provide updates on legislation that might affect those who have committed sexual offenses. We encourage you to sign up for these updates.
We advocate for rational laws & programs:
- reducing acts of discrimination, hatred, and violence directed at those who have committed sexual offenses.
- re-humanizing, reintegrating & rehabilitating people who have committed sexual offenses.
- increasing public safety by reducing sexual offenses.
- limiting registry access strictly to law enforcement.
- terminating registry requirements upon completion of a court-imposed sentence.
- reversing retroactively applied restrictions.
- reforming the civil commitment processes.
Legal Challenge Fund
Arizona’s registry restrictions keep getting worse through bills like SB1404 and SB1236, affecting over 14,000 people in our state. While AZRSOL wasn’t granted plaintiff status in Doe et al v. Mayes et al (Case 2:24-cv-02259-MTL), we’re still actively involved. We continue to provide legal input and may file an amicus brief to ensure registrants’ voices are heard in court.
This case is our chance to push back against unconstitutional restrictions. Even if current changes don’t affect you today, these laws impact our entire community. Legal advocacy requires resources, and we need your help. Please donate to our legal fund below.
